Do you offer a free consultation?

We offer a free 15-minute intake call. The purpose of the call is to establish fit and next steps in the matter. Book a Consultation

What should I prepare for my first consultation?

You should take the time to fill out our Intake Form. This is sent to you upon scheduling a consultation. It addresses the information that you should prepare, including relationship dates, family law issues, financials and your goals and interests.

How long does a divorce take in Ontario?

Remember that you may only be granted a divorce 1 year after the date of separation. Usually, all separation issues have to be resolved (e.g. property, support) prior to the divorce order. Once the divorce documents are all filed, it may take four to six months for the divorce to be granted, depending on the municipality.

Do I have to go to court?

Absolutely not. Most cases would benefit of negotiation or alternative dispute resolution. We will discuss our approaches during the consultation and the strategy that we recommend.

How is child custody decided?

Child custody is decided based on the best interest of the child. The term for child custody in Ontario is now decision-making responsibility. Custody or decision-making is different than parenting time.
